On September 2nd and 3rd, 2015, Mr. John Zhao, CEO of China US Health Alliance, brought China Ping An Insurance executive team to meet with Ms. Diana Dooley, Secretary of Health and Human Services in California; Ms. Jennifer Kent, Director of California Department of Health Care Services, the state agency that oversees the burgeoning Medi-Cal program; Ms. Shelley Rouillard, Director of the California Department of Managed Health Care; Mr. Dave Jones, California’s Insurance Commissioner; Dr. Ken Kizer, Chairman of California CIRC, Director of California University Institute for Population Health Improvement, and former Director of Veterans Health Administration in Federal Veterans Affairs Department.

During meetings, senior Californian officials introduced the regulatory and management framework for the State’s managed care and Medi-Cal plans. They emphasized the importance of fair market competition between public non-profit and private health insurance plans. The Californian officials also showed great interest in China’s health reform and looked forward to further discussion and exploring business opportunities in the future

Mr. John Zhao said he would do his best to promote more discussions and collaborations between China and US in the healthcare field. All countries should work together to meet the common healthcare challenge by encouraging innovations in technology, management, information system and government policies.
